SHAKE256 is a member of the SHA-3 hash family. The SHA-3 hash family was selected as the winning design in the NIST hash function competition as the new Secure Hash Algorithms standard. SHAKE256 is an eXtendable Output Function (XOF) which can produce an arbitrary length hash.
