GOST (Russian: ГОСТ) is a set of international technical standards overseen by the Euro-Asian Council for Standardization, Metrology, and Certification (EASC), operating under the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). After the USSR's dissolution, GOST standards gained regional status, now administered by EASC and used extensively in 12 CIS countries for certification programs in industries like energy, construction, telecommunications, and more. Although adopted by multiple CIS members, GOST is not the national standard of Russia. Instead, the GOST R standards serve that purpose. Ukraine ceased using GOST standards in 2015.

The following hashes belong to both the GOST R and GOST standards, they should not be confused with the Streebog hash family, which is defined in the GOST R 34.11-2012 standard.

The GOST R 34.11-94 variants, also referred to as GOST-94, or simply the GOST hash function are specified in RFC 5831 https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc5831/.
